About The Centre

The centre is purpose built and situated in the town centre offering a wide range of facilities to young people.
If you're interested in sport, art / craft, music, computers, trips or just relaxing with your friends - there is always something on offer at Tamyouth for you.

On Mondays the SPACE Group meet between 4.00 p.m. and 6.00 p.m. and operate a LGBTQ Group for young people aged 14 to 19. This is a new initiative for 2011.
The the 1st Tamworth Guides meet between 7.15p.m. & 8.45p.m. and the Tamworth Ranger Guide Group operates from 8.00pm. till 9.30pm at various times by arrangement.

Tuesdays evenings are designated for Senior Youth Club for young people aged 14 plus.
In addition to the “traditional” programme, a number of special projects are hosted including the use of the Radio Station for “Introduction to Radio & Media courses” There is also FREE Internet Access via the E-magine Suite

On Wednesday afternoons the Centre hosts the WAC (Wednesday Afternoon Club) which operates from 4.30 p.m. till 6.00 p.m. This group caters for young people with learning difficulties for school years 7 to 9.This is a "new" initiative for 2011.

A Judo Club operates from 6.00 p.m. - 8.00 p.m. within the Sports Hall.

Senior S.P.I.N. launches with a wide range of activities for young people with special needs from 7.30 -9.30 p.m.

On Thursday evenings the Centre hosts the Open Youth Club from 7.00 p.m. till 9.00 p.m.
This session caters for young people aged 12 to 14.offering a social meeting place around "positive activities"
including cooking, arts & crafts, sports, use of computers & games consoles.
Staff also encourage the young people to consider major issues of the day as they relate to them and their lifestyles.

On Friday evenings the Centre is open for the Twilight Zone, an informal session allowing the young people to relax after a hard week at school

The centre also supports other groups including an active Judo Club and the Table Tennis section. Local Football Clubs make use of the facilities during the autumn and winter periods.

The centre encourages links with voluntary groups and host Rainbows, Brownies & Girl Guides events. Other users include Staffordshire Young Carers Association, The Fun Bunch & Social Services Groups (Belgrave Group and A.S.S.A.U.L.T group).

The centre offers its facilities during the day to The Kettlebrook Unit (Short Stay School) plus others by arrangement. The centre works closely with Tamworth Borough Council & has been involved in a number of joint initiatives.

The outdoor sports area together with its OBI (Outdoor Basketball Initiative) nets is used extensively by young people out of club hours.

The "Albert Road" project has seen the grassed area at the front of the building fenced and environmental features are gradually being created. A bench has been installed and two sculptures of sandyback pigs.These depict “Butch & Sundance" - two actual pigs who escaped an abbattoir a few years ago and were front page news at the time. As part of our activities three flying pigs created from copper sheet are now situated on the side of the building and the latest addition is a giant wicker man

The Centre is now able to offer FREE Internet Access & IT facilities and hosts the TCRFM Radio Studios. Expert advice will be available to train young people in radio broadcasting & other media projects.The station is now broadcasting live on a daily basis - tune in on 106.8 FM

Over latter years the young people have been supported in making bids for funding to enable various projects to take place.
Funding was obtained to purchase musical instruments which has led to an ongoing music project.Various young bands now chose to practice on our premises making use of the available equipment.

Recent bids assisted in funding replacement sports equipment, a "Paintballing" trip and a Residential Week-end.

There is always something happening at Tamyouth which young people can become involved with.

The centre and its staff are always willing to respond to the views & ideas of the young people.
