Information & advice for young people aged 11 to 19

Tamworth Uni Of The Third Age
A branch of The University Of The Third Age
Reg Charity No 1076113

The organisation has been in existence for more than 20 years and is for the benefit of members who are 55 and no longer in full time employment. The aim is to encourage older people to help each other to share their knowledge, skills, interests and experience.

The branch is run by a committee who work tirelessly to ensure that everything runs smoothly. This group meet once a month, just before the general meeting.

The monthly meeting on the first Wednesday is well attended and provides an opportunity to exchange information and to "network". There is always a speaker followed by refreshments.

There are currently 260 members who enjoy a variet of groups and activites. There include several types of walking, literary pursuits, languages, gardening, light excerxise, card games and tai chi. There uis a varied selection of outings both connected to an interest such as history, or to stately homes and towns with attractions. Also there are opportunities for socialising such as the Friday and Saturday lunches

Occasionally short holidays are offered to members and these are very popular. They include trips to London, The Lake District and Majorca. There is also an annual outing and an annual picnic to different places each year.

We are a friendly group of people who enjoy learning new skills together. New members are made to feel very welcome and are soon reaping the benefits of all the experience on offer.

If you are interested, come along to the meeting at the Progressive Club, Halford Street, Tamworth.
